It seems that a required Firefox Video Codec on ARM/M1 machines has an issue. I've researched it and it has shown up off/on as a Firefox bug in the past. Without this Codec, some videos won't play and some video conferencing will not work. You may not know that it is not working until you run into a problem unless you check. I am gathering info on this bug so I can document it to Mozilla. If you are using Firefox on M1, please take 10 seconds and check the following:
in the address bar, type: about:addons (if necessary, then click "plugins" on the left)
Does the OpenH264 CODEC show as installed, or is it reporting a problem?
Also, please report if you don't have the problem.

TIA!
Leon

It says it will be installed shortly, under "Enabled" category. Screen Shot 2021-03-30 at 13.22.24.png

Thanks VERY much. :) That's what I am looking for to report to Mozilla. It is possible that most/all MI/Firefox users have this issue. (If it says that, it will NEVER install). Others, please check and report if you have Firefox installed on your M1. It takes literally 10 seconds to check.

It is November now and I am also seeing this issue on my new macbook pro (M1). Has anyone found a solution to this? Is there no codec available for AS?

I seem to have the update on M1 Air and FF 94.0.1.
I never did any manual change of this.
