Problem with iMac 2009

Likely GPU spoilt.
To test, take a boot stick (whatever you have or can get, either a MacOS or Linux Mint 20) and boot from USB. If same, the GPU is the strongest suspect.
You may bake it (search for it, my recommendation is 6 min at 200degC), this won't cost you anything except an hour time, and may get you going quickly again. It it works afterwards, it would also give you proof that the GPU was at fault here. You can then decide how to proceed.
