I have the newest imac ( aluminum with mini display port) and i recently bought a apple cinema display 24 . When i hooked it up nothing happened the screen remains black and it does not detect it in my Graphics/Display. The status for the port is

"Display Connector:
Status: No Display Connected"

The sound works on it via the usb cord and when i connect or disconnect the mini display cord or power from the ACD the imac screen goes blue briefly as its most likely auto detecting display. My thoughts are maybe i need to download a update for the 9400m video card or somthing

I have updated my imac to the most current firmware and i just cant figure our what would be wrong... Any suggestions?

Please respond asap .

You can't download drivers manually, they come with system updates.

Are all cables hooked up correctly? If everything should be OK, call to Apple and ask why it isn't working. It can be a defective cable or display

If you have everything hooked up correctly, then something is broken. Either the MiniDisplay Port, the Cable, or the Screen. You probably should take the screen to an Apple Store and let them connect it to another computer to see if it works.

Once you plug in the MiniDisplay port the screen should turn on.
