Hi,

I can't seem to add any videos to my fifth generation iPod Classic, iTunes just says "cannot be played on this iPod." By the sound of it, this happens when the videos are in the wrong format.

However, they were purchased from iTunes and are MPEG-4 format, just as the videos already on the iPod (added years ago) are.

iTunes says there's a software update available, but I don't see why that would cause this problem. Besides, it has an error and can't download that update anyway.

Help???

If you haven't tried yet, attempt the following.

1. Fully charge iPod. Often iPods can't be updated unless they're fully charged.
2. Restart/Reboot iPod.
3. Try a full restore. Takes a while but it can work.

Good luck.

I was afraid of that. A full restore may work, but it gets rid of music and everything doesn't it? I have a lot on there and a lot of videos that I don't have on my computer anymore. Not sure if it's worth restoring to add new videos...
