I know winxp isn't supported yadda yadda yadda :)

My problem is when the mac restarts to boot from the windows CD install disk, it just gives me a blank screen and the monitor looks like it's gone to sleep (no signal). So I tested the CD on a PC to see if the boot record was messed and it seems to be fine (bootable cd works on a pc)

It's winxp SP2, I did the whole SATA fix to the .iso but still, only a blank screen.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks

Out of curiosity, which port (Left or Right, looking at the back of the machine) did you plug the display into?

I had the same thought. It was plugged into the right port, then I tried the left one.

I've got a 23" ACD. Whenever it tries to boot the windows disk it puts the glowing light on like it's gone to sleep but stays on. strange..

I'm going to try a different LCD. Since i'm actually using a DVD think that would matter? I hope not because I have no cd's! :)

how much time did you give it?

I know that when I used my 20" ACD on my pc nothing would show up until the windows loging screen. The LCD light would glow like it was asleep until that time.

If you haven't already, try giving it some more time to reach the login.

In a nice place..
the blank screen, does this show up right after "inspecting hardware"? If so, I have always seen this when there is a disk format issue. I had this the first time I tried to install XP, and I resolved it by using bootcamp to select the drive I wanted to install XP on, and do the reboot from there.

doesn't even get to the detecting hardware phase.

Basically I hold the option key. The HD and the CD appear (cd called windows). I then select the CD, then it's blank. I even reduced the resolution to 800x600 just to be sure it wasn't a resolution problem.

I've now used Ultra ISO and Nero to burn the image..

have u tried using some other monitor and then installing XP drivers for the 1900 - I'm on the 23"Cinema Display with the 7300GT and it worked even before i installed the Bootcamp drivers. posting from XP now!

Hmm however i am using an IDE drive the optical bay. Could it be something to do with that SATA patch?

ya i'm not sure why i can't get it to work. I installed the 1900 drivers properly, but it will only display when i have my 17" plugged in.
