Problem with Mail App

I'm having a problem getting my emails from the Mail App. What happen is that all I get is the beachball and I have to force quit. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem and if there is a way to fix it?

Hmm, is it Tiger? Maybe start by removing a file named com.apple.mail.plist which is the preference file for Mail. Do this when Mail is closed and keep the file on the Desktop so that if it doesn't help you can put it back and keep your old settings.
