Hi I have a new mac mini and a 3 yr old philips hd tv, when i connect it, the apple logo comes on for about 10 seconds, then the screen goes dark and the words
"format not responding" come up and can't connect, People at Apple have no idea what it is, ? cable used is hdmi from mac to tv, thanks

A follow up, I am on my second one, the people at Apple deduced the 1st one was defective, we hooked the 2nd one at the store, worked fine.

It sounds like your mini is trying to display a resolution that isn't supported by your TV. I had this exact problem with my mini and a TV my old roommate used to own.

They way I solved the problem was to connect the mini to a different monitor and set up a VNC server (or screen sharing). Then I reconnected the mini to the TV and used my other Mac to remotely control the mini and change the screen resolution.

Obviously this wasn't the most elegant solution, and if you don't have another computer to use to do this than you'll have to find some other way to make this work. This was a few years ago that this happened to me and I can't' remember what else I tried but I do know that this is how I finally got it to work.

Hi thanks for the info, I gave up and bought a new monitor,oh well, now it works fine, FYI if you have a philips hd tv, it may not work with a mini.

Yeah it will, but you just have to set the resolution right....

Ho hum. As long as you are happy.
