what browser are you using? have you tried logging off of hotmail and then back in to see if there is a change (could be the cache)

are you useing the Mail Hotmail plugin? that could be causing the problem as well

ps why are you using hotmail when Gmail is out there? (just curious)

haha im just playing around with you, didnt mean to sound harsh or anything.

have you tried logging out of your hotmail account after emptying the trash and then back in?

also go to the safai drop down menu and empty your cache, that might help

Ok heres an update. I just used internet explorer on my ibook to check the hotmail box. I got like two pop ups saying that the info i was about to send was not secure and could be viewed by ouside people. Whats the deal with that? I was just logging into my hotmail account. Anyway, i tried deleting the junk mail using internet explorer and it worked. Im gonna try again with safari doing the things you suggested right now.

i wouldnt go so far as to reset safari, someone else may know why this is causing an issue. do you have the debug menu visible in safari? from there you could try and spoof Hotmail into thinking that you are IE to see if it just doesnt like Safari i suppose....but i really dont know where to go from here, sorry

Hotmail stuff is in Javascript...I believe you need to see this pop-up window (for your Junk Mail) asking you to check the box "Report these as Junk Mail" or something along those lines.

Your not the only one..

I get the same problem if I open my junk folder and try to empty from there. I get the JS popup, but it doesnt delete.

The way round it is to go onto the first page (from messenger or something) where you get the following page -

inbox 1msg
trash 0msg
junk 2msg empty

if that makes sense.. then click the empty button there and that seems to work.

but yeah use another browser if it annoys you too much.

Safari was working like poo for me when we got the 10.3.9 update. It'd do all sorts of random stuff but since I reset it, it's been playing nicely again. :)

It might be worth a try after all.

all you have to do is register at .net with your gmail account to use it with msn messenger. simple as that, pointless for me because i use aim....but i know many people do not though

Ok i tried your suggestion and it totally worked. Thanks. I get the same JS pop up when i try to delete from the actual mailbox but still it wont delete. This is sooo annoying. They need to get a fix for this. Hotmail is extremely popular. Although i use Gmail as my main account id still like to have my hotmail account working properly from Safari.

Help with MSN

I'm running OS 10.2.8 and have downloaded MSN Messenger 4.0.1 but I can't use it! When I open the application it signs me in as being offline and then the application freezes up (the rotating beachball appears) and I have to force quit the application. Any suggestions?!?!?!?!?!?!
