Hope you guys can help.

I recently installed Adobe CS2, including Acrobat Distiller. I also installed Office X. In MS Word and InDesign, I could initially print PDFs by pressing 'Print...', making sure the 'Adobe PDF 7.0' driver was installed.

I'm not exactly sure what changed, although I did have to reinstall InDesign because I deletes some essential fonts from the Macintosh:Applications:Adobe Creative Suite:Adobe Indesign CS2:Fonts folder. I think it was something with the CMaps folder, which still doesn't seem to be in InDesign after I reinstalled it, or Illustrator. But I don't know if this is the problem.

I'm new to Mac, so I'm having a hard time figuring out what's gone wrong.

The printer driver is installed (I re-installed it). But when I go to print in Word, a window pops up telling me the job has been stopped. In InDesign, when that doesn't happen, it goes to print, the progress window pops up, but nothing happens. I can probably save as a PS file, then distill, but the other method worked once (especially important for me in Word), and I'd like it to work again.

I've tried to find answers to this online but haven't had any luck.

Can anyone help?

Try looking into System Preferences and then Print & Fax and see if Adobe PDF is ticked.
It's ticket alright.

When I print in Word, in the print dialogue box, a small grey circle with an exclamation mark [ ! ] shows beside the PPD name.

When I go to print, the Print Jobs window opens, but shortly thereafter, a small, red circle with an exclamation mark shows.

What does this indicate?

In this pop-up window, does it list all the jobs waiting to print? If so, the computer may believe that the printer is off-line, or that your jobs have been paused. There should be an icon to "Release Printer." Click that and see what happens...

Yes, it says 'Jobs Stopped' and leaves them in the list to print. Where do I find 'Release Printer'?

In Print & Fax try selecting the printer and then select Print Queue tab. From there delete all the current Active Printing jobs. Something has gotten botched up. After deleting those jobs then try removing the printer (Adobe PDF) by selecting the (-) button that you need and add a new one by selecting the (+) button. A new window will open with available printers and select the one you need then select add.

Click "Start Jobs"

...so it then looks like this

and it should then print from now on.
And I agree about deleting out all the old jobs; highlight them and click Delete
