Problem with Quark 4.03

Hi
I am using Quark 4.03 on a mac and I am currently trying 2 save a document that can then be opened on a PC which dosent have Quark. Is it possible 2 open this document in word on a PC? If so how do I save it & as what? Please help!

Also recently something has happened 2 flash on my mac, it has disappeared! when I try & download it again I get a message come up that says that plug-ins is missing from internet explorer, I just dont understand!

Word can't open a QuarkXPress file. If the user has QuarkXPress for PC they should be able to open a doc created on a Mac and imported. Are the verssions different? Usually an older version of Quark can't open a newer version file.

You would need to save it as a pdf file for them to view...but I am sure that version of quark doesn't do that as quark 6 was the first to do that.

I can't remember, but you might be able to save the entire document as a tiff or some other pic file...but I don't know enough about that with QUark as I only use it for basic desktop publishing stuff and a few pics added in here and there. check this out to see if it will help...maybe saving as something then opening in illustrator or some other program will allow you to covert or viewing.

try saving it as an EPS. that'll at least get you one step closer to cross-platform, but you'll still need a program on the PC that will open your EPS file. illustrator will do it, as will photoshop; you might try some other image editing applications. if you have distiller, you can turn the EPS into a PDF.

depending on the number of pages in the document "printing" to a .ps (postscript) file and distilling to a PDf would be the safest. saving each page as an .eps file would work but consumes a lot of space and as mentioned before would require an app to open it on the PC. Any version of Quark can open the like version cross platform, and even open older version files. We have customers who work in Mac version 6 retro save to version 5 so I can open it on my PC then retro save to 4.0 and open it on my Mac with little or no loss of information. (We aren't fully migrated to OS X yet). As for another format, only Quark can open Quark.
