Heya!

Im really stuck here. A couple weeks ago, my Windows 10 partition disappeared off the start up.
I managed to reset Windows 10, nearly no problems. Then I discovered my sound doesnt work.
It seems Windows was updated around the 18th of June, which was roughly when my problems started.
On the device manager, there is a yellow triangle and exclamation on Intel(R) 6 series/c200 series chipset family high definition audio - 1c20. Ive tried downloading drivers on that particular series...but that doesnt seem to have helped. Ive tried scanning my computer for corrupted files using scannow... Ive checked out
several tutorials on the subject... when I go to the sound panel, just states AMD high def audio device not plugged in. I have a little red x on the device in the right hand corner of the screen. As you can probably tell
I stink at this stuff....out of desperation I took the place to a pc repair place around the corner, and he bascially told me that I need to find the right drivers, but its risky so he didnt want to screw things up more...
said I should try a usb headphone device. Which I will.

Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!!!!

What year/model is your computer? I have a mid-2011 iMac, which only supports Windows 7 & 8.1 in Bootcamp, not Windows 10. I did manage to install W10 though, but the sound didn't work, same problem as you've got. I've read that if you install an earlier version and upgrade it to W10 that will do the trick and get the sound working for you. One thing I maintain whilst in Bootcamp though is INTERNET OFF, especially with W10. You just don't know what is going to be downloaded, including viruses etc. I only use it for gaming so don't need to be up-to-the-minute up-to-date, as long as my game works that is fine by me. And as you report, the proof of the pudding is that, W10 downloads an upgrade behind your back and stuffs your sound up the chute, giving you massive, needless, unexpected and uncalled for headache.

A quick fix is to get a USB audio card, about the size of a pendrive, costs about a quid or a dollar, and plug your headphones into it, works great.

mines also a mid 2011. I installed W10 aswell, with the help of a tutorial on youtube, utilizing Daemon tools, and in conjunction with windows 8.1. It actually worked. And I had sound. Until the upgrade. Initially the sound was working fine, until the update... than after I reinstalled it... gone. I´m wondering if there is some driver I could install or something... Perhaps Ill just go for the usb audio card! Safest bet right? Thanks for the response!
