I updated the battery on my MPB 17" today, after receiving a new one from the wicked bad expanding that the old one did. Now, after the update, I am having a problem with the top row of keys. I have to hit the 'T' key like 3 times in the word 'the' for either the 'T' or the 'E' to begin working. I've tried a restart and that didn't seem to help. Any suggestions. Please don't tell me that I have to send my 3000 dollar computer back to apple the week before finals and my senior thesis is due. After that freaky battery episode, and now this, I'm not very happy with the MB/MBP line. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try repairing permissions, but it sounds like it may be a logicboard problem as it is similar to what happened to my brothers MBP. I don't know if it is the best idea but you could use an external keyboard until after finals and then send it in for repair, just if you do this make sure that you back everything up.

repaired permissions and reset PRAM and that still hasn't helped much. Last night i was trying to calibrate my battery and the computer was running very very hot (iTunes Visualizer and Parallels) while trying to drain the battery and the top row was completely unresponsive except for the 'P' key. Now i can barely use it... just now trying to type the word 'use' i had to literally hit the 'U' key 32 times (I counted). The left 'Shift' key is also not working. I guess it is the logic board. That really does piss me off because I've spent $3000 on this 'super computer' and AppleCare for the battery and now seemingly the logic board to crap out in less than 12 months. They better take care of this in a timely manner, seeing as how all 5 computers in my extended family are all macs, and I would hate to have to break a foot off in someone and them lose a loyal customer. This is SOOOOO aggriva+ng...
