Ok, so I sold my iPhone, and the person buying it was intending on using it with T-Mobile (I use AT&T), so I was going to unlock it and jailbreak it for him. Today, I got an email from him saying that he was unable to get his T-Mobile sim card to work with the iPhone, and I'm worried it was something I did.

This is what I did:
-I completely restored my iPhone though iTunes, so that none of my stuff was left on it.
-Using QuickPWN for Windows, I connected my iPhone to the computer to jailbreak 2.2. It automatically detected the firmware, and after that, I selected that I wanted to install Cydia, as well as 'Unlock Phone'. I then selected the two bootloaders, and it started to Jailbreak.

-Once the phone eventually restarted, it went though the flashing/unlocking process (I believe) and it took maybe 5 minutes. After that, it eventually restarted, and fully started up. After that, I just turned it off, and sent it off.

Is there anything that I missed, or messed up on? Was a specific sim card supposed to be in the phone?

Thanks!

From what you're saying, everything should work fine. Did the buyer explain exactly what the problem was? He may have restored it after he got it, thus locking it.

Yeah that's what I figured, but he was very vague at what he did. Well I emailed him instructions to try to unlock it again. Thanks.

I found it would only unlock with QuickPwn if it was not already activated to a legit carrier. I had to do a restore with a non-O2 sim in the phone, not activate it, and then run QuickPwn before it would unlock successfully. When I first tried the restore with the O2 sim in, it did the activation automatically and this prevented QuickPwn unlocking it. I am guessing that it fails to overwrite the Activation Pair records that get put on the phone.

Here's the thread I posted. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/637212/

If the buyer is getting the message "Different SIM Detected, please connect to iTunes" then that may well be the problem. Either you need to get the phone back and do it all again with the T-Mobile SIM in or you will need to get them to do it.

Ok, well thanks for your help! Apparently he got an Unsupported sim message with iTunes, so I told him to restore it and unlock it again, but this time with his own sim card inside the phone.

Apparently that worked, so no problem!
