I fear I might have tinkered with things a bit and caused some issues regarding bootcamp drivers. I had installed Windows XP under Bootcamp, everything ok so then I decided to use a mod tool to install latest graphics cards drivers and catalyst control center. That was fine too until I for some stupid reason (now) decided to use control panel to remove the ATI driver/catalyst program. Now when I run windows there appears to be no drivers and downloading the XP Bootcamp drivers off ATI web site results in the error message unable to find suitable hardware.

When I look at the device manager under hardware profile I can see the following problems. Question mark highlighting other devices: SM Bus controller and Video controller.

How can I install the drivers for these and get windows to run the display properly again?

Thanks for any help

I don't have the video issue but I am very curious as to what this SM Bus Controller is. It's the only thing with a "?" in Device Manager. I was speculating that it is separate from the video device since everything is working fine on my machine.

had the exact same problem with "unable to find suitable hardware". My graphics/video was totally hosed by the bootcamp 2.1 update. I was very surprised that normal ATI drivers wouldn't load.

I found working drivers by googling for ATI boot camp drivers. If you want to install the catalyst control center, you will need to have installed microsoft's dot NET framework prior to doing so, otherwise you will have problems with that. You don't need dot NET for the drivers, just the control center software which is optional. I used it to fix problems with using my 1080p TV as an external monitor with my mbp.

HELP! Very similar graphics driver problem

I play LOTRO under bootcamp, and was having problems with the graphics driver. I found a great post on this forum telling me EXACTLY, step by step, how to download and install a newer ATI Radeon graphics driver. It included several steps where you don't just follow the screen prompts automatically. I did it and it worked.

Long story short, while trying to upgrade my audio driver recently, I managed to accidentally uninstall the upgraded graphics driver and now I can't find the great step-by-step instructions on how to reinstall it. (If it's not obvious, I am not a tech person.) And following the screen prompts isn't working!

Can anyone help?

What kind of machine are you running Bootcamp on? What graphics card do you have?

Recently I've simply been able to go to the manufacturer's website and download an up-to-date driver from there (I have ATI).

I have an aluminum iMac 2GHz, with an ATI Radeon graphics card. I WAS able to successfully upgrade it from the manufacturer's web site on the fourth or fifth try, but it makes me uneasy that I still don't know what I did differently.

Thanks for help. Now if I can only solve my audio input under bootcamp problem....
