Universal Problem with YouTube videos buffering

More and more YouTube videos are not playing correctly on my ios devices. They may buffer for 30-60 seconds before starting and buffer every 10 seconds, while other videos from the same user starts instantly. Videos work when opening them using safari and not the YouTube app. The quality of the videos effected seems totally radom, videos with lower quality may not play while 4k ones do.
My internet connection is not the culprit, have a 1 Gbps connection and the videos play fine on my pc.
Any idea on what causes this?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? And you're seeing this across multiple devices? I don't see similar issues with 2021 12.9 and iPhone 12 Pro Max on a 1Gbps home connection.

I believe I have tried reinstalling the app. Have been having this issue for a long time, but recently it's become more and more frequent. And yes seeing the same on both my Air 2 and Iphone 12 Mini(Also had a 2021 iPad Pro which had the same issue before I returned it, and this was configured as a new device). When I press the home button on the iPad the audio starts playing, but as soon as I enter the app it buffers again.
