Problems after upgrading Server from Mountain Lion to Yosemite

Hello Everyone,
Yesterday I upgraded our office Mac Mini server from Mountain Lion to Yosemite. Ever since then I’ve encountered nonstop errors that read The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in "filename.ext" can’t be read or written. (Error code -36) while working with any documents on the server’s shares over the network. It’s very frustrating and I’m not sure even where to begin? Messing up our whole office’s workflows!

How are you sharing your disks, AFP or SMB?

For filesharing with mac we preffer using cifs. As Mac OSX has it's own 'thoughts' of how it works and how to work with than Windows, we always use cifs on mac's.
(p.s. in our case we are using windows fileshares with DFS)

The clients are Windows or Mac ?
Reset your ACL's and double check file permissions, if needed simply do a permission repair with disk utility.
Or if you want to be 100% sure, remove the shares and create them again, so all permissions should be resetted by itself.

I've been looking after servers for years. Trust me, the golden rule is if it's working, leave it alone.

I know you're not helped by Apple's ridiculously short OS support lifecycle. I know it doesn't help you now, but in the future, if it works, don't upgrade it. Apple are notorious for features disappearing from newer versions of the Server app, and dumbing down over the years.

I agree with your reasons for CIFS, but I bet the OP is using AFP or SMB.
