This just started yesterday. For some reason Safari was taking ions to load when I clicked on links. I messed with computer (novice, never should have) and I suddenly found a link to 'verify' and 'verify permissions'.

When I clicked all sorts of scrolls flashed by saying something about user is 0 and s/b 8 or vice versa

Now when I open Apps and click on an App they won't open. I get SUID warning system file has been modified and will not be repaired. Is this a problem?

If so what's the fix? Reload Snow?

Thanks for the response. Yes I did the repairs. I have now determined that the problem is the mouse (due to my error of some type)

I can open any application but before I did the validate step I simply clicked on the icon in the App folder. Now I have to right click with my wireless Apple Mouse and a window pops open and I click on open and the app opens. It was much easier before.

This happened when I downloaded Google Earth and the mouse would hover over a GE icon and flash the information so fast you couldn't read the description so I messed with the Mouse options in Apple Preferences.

The Mouse is whatever wireless mouse came with the wireless two battery Apple Keyboard. The ID is so tiny on the bottom of the Mouse but it appears to say A1296 3 Vdc. I have all three one finger boxes checked and I have the single box checked under two finger. Prior to messing with it I do not recall how the Mouse was set up.
