Hi! and excuse my english

I have a MP Late 2012 with Monterey 12.3 running OpenCore Legacy Patcher 0.4.3.

I just bought a Magic Keyboard A2449 (touchID) and after connecting it bluetooth works for a few seconds and stops working.

The keyboard works perfectly on other devices.

Any solution?

Thank you very much

When it's still connected, what battery charge level does it report? Do you have any other Macs that it works ok with?

The battery level shows it correctly. Currently has 100%

The keyboard works ok with Mac mini 2012, iPad 2ªgen and MacBook Air

If you haven't in a while, be sure your MP is up to date, then restart it.

Then, I'd try turning the keyboard off, removing it (not simply disconnecting it, but right-clicking the keyboard under System Preferences > Bluetooth and then clicking "remove") from any other device you have used it with before (including the problem computer) and THEN turn it back on and try to connect it again to the MP.

Have you tried connecting any other Bluetooth devices to your MP such as a Magic Mouse (or non-Apple Bluetooth mouse)? If so, do they experience any connectivity issues?

I'm typing this with a bluetooth connected logitech keyboard with no more issues than the typical loss of range that the mac pro has, but it's a one time thing, not like with the Magic Keyboard.

I already did everything you told me and it doesn't solve it.

In that case, since other Bluetooth devices work fine with your MP and the Apple keyboard is working fine with other Macs, I'm thinking it must be some sort of compatibility issue with the newer Apple keyboard with the 10 year old MP. Have you tried contacting Apple about the issue? Since you just bought the keyboard, I'd probably try to exchange it for another of the same just in case you got one that has issues (even if it's just with one computer).

Sorry you're still having troube with it. Maybe someone else here has some ideas I haven't thought of.

I just tried it with another mac pro with the same version of opencore and monterey and it behaves the same way.. I also think it's going to be a compatibility issue.

Maybe someone else here has this combo and it works fine for them.

I would suggest to replace the bt board on the Mac, you can also test with a Bluetooth USB dongle, just plug the dongle and you can connect the same way

I would not replace the BT module, not to try to make the keyboard work. Please look carefully at the compatibility for the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID on Apple, it states clearly that it is only compatible with M1 Macs, not even the Mac Pro 2019 (7,1) is listed, and the latter has a T2 chip which our cMP lack! I don't see the OpenCore dev community finding a workaround for this product. Consider returning the current keyboard and replacing it with a regular Apple Magic Keyboard which work perfectly well with our cMP. If the OpenCore dev community ever finds a workaround, you could reconsider it then, if really needed.

I have an ASUS BT400 dongle but I am not able to get it to work with Monterey. I also think it would be a good solution.

Any suggestion?

When I got the keyboard, I already knew that Touch ID only worked with the M1 Macs, but I wasn't interested in that feature. I just wanted to renew my old A1314 because I was tired of changing the rechargeable batteries.

I understand, but unfortunately Touch ID is not just a feature that can be turned on/off in your particular setup. If you’d like to know more, search online for technical resources that explain how it works, and what changes Apple made with Secure Enclave when transitioning from Intel CPU+T2 chip to Apple Silicon.

Apple sells 2 Magic Keyboards that work for your setup, listed below, and Matias is a good company making excellent keyboards, also listed below.

If I were you, I would not wait any longer and would initate a return to get my money back.
