So, I synced all of my converted iPhone videos to my video iPod to test them out. However, only 3 went on properly. Although all were put on at 480x*** resolution, the ones that worked out were 29.97FPS while the others were either 24fps or 25fps. Why doesn't this work - I never spent too much time being good with the video iPod. Any clues as to what will work with the iPhone?

I'm utterly confounded. One video will go on, the other will not. One is 480x264 h.264 48khz 64kbs AAC audio with 256kbs video at 29.97fps, and so is the other! One works, the other refuses to transfer.

Upon converting said video that will not work to 320x240 from 480x264, it works and will transfer. But the other video is 480x264 and will go on (320x240 is the supposed h.264 limit for iPod?). Why???

Having a conversation with yourself there huh? I think you may be better off waiting until iDay to test out your video conversions. No one really knows what settings will work best w iPhone. With that said, here's what my settings in Handbrake have been.

File Format: MP4
Codec: AVC/H.264 Video/ AAC Audio
Framerate: Same as Source
Encoder: x264 (h.264 Main)
Quality: Average Bitrate 1000 kbps
2 Pass Encoding: Checked
Picture Settings Output: 480 x (Keep Aspect Ratio)

does ne1 know of any converter that will work for my videos i get off of limewire or from a torrent.. i need a converter badlllyy!!!!!. ive never had an ipod so i dunno how this thing all works.. i did a psp video 9 convert .. which changes it to .mp4 but it doesnt work on itunes.. i have no idea how this works... plzzz help

Problem solved.
I noticed that the ones that worked, besides being the same framerate and spec, were also done in Visualhub not iSquint (despite being similar apps). iSquint must have put the wrong h.264 profile on it (I read an article on this because I are smart). I took one of the failed videos and ran it through Visualhub, no changes just ran it on through, and what came out worked. The original did not. Hurrah.

Edit: apparently iSquint that I was using was slightly out of date. With the 1.5 update, 640x480 h.264 low profile was supported. My copy of Visualhub was newer. So although iSquint encoded it, it spat out something that wasn't properly compatible. Suck. That also explains why its 320x240 h.264 conversions worked.
