I have major problems importing/copying files from data CDs.
Is there a smart way to copy PC-originated folders with a complex hierarchical structure?
I frequently need to duplicate folders/CDs, mostly the contain photos (typically jpg/tiff/gif, but also PDF, doc and others) and were generated/burned on PCs.
Invariably, if I try to just copy the CD by dragging it to some other folder, It will start crunching and after some time it will find a corrupted file and stop copying.
Apart from the fact that the files are usually not corrupted, because they work on PCs, what I find annoying is that the finder wont just skip the bad file and keep doing its job, but it will just drop the ball.
And because it starts copying multiple subfolders at the same time, its basically impossible to know what has been copied or not.
Am I missing something or is this a major flaw of OS X (both panther and jaguar, on multiple machines)?
Other than dragging files individually, whats the best way to import files and keep track of what has been copied? Keep in mind that I have no control on the structure of the source CDs.
Thanks
