Has anyone tried installing the newly released XP SP3 Release candidate? I keep getting an error during installation that says something to the effect of "Setup requires an additional 4 megabytes of space in C:WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$". That's not completely verbatim, but close enough. I've heard that others have had the same problem installing SP3 on their Macs. And no, I don't really need the extra 4 megs, my windows partition has almost 30 gigs free. Any ideas?

Installed it last week on VMware (Boot Camp partition) without any issues. Are you using VM software?

The same thing happened when people tried upgrading XP to SP2 on Macs. Try slipstreaming the install disc.

It's not an install disc, it's basically just a massive update that you install the way you'd install a regular program.

You misunderstood his post. He suggested integrating the service pack with your Windows installation disc. However, I caution against this because it will probably eliminate the possibility of upgrading to the final service pack release without another reinstall.

Sorry about bumping up an older post, but I am having the same issue and I would really like to be able to install Service Pack 2 without having to reinstall Windows XP. Is there a way?
