Problems logging into Messages

My Messages app is working fine with other services like Gtalk, etc, but it won't log into my Apple account, so I cannot get (or send) my phone and ipad messages on my mac atm.

I keep getting this:

...and yes, I'm absolutely certain the password is right, as I just bought a few apps using it. Network is also fine or I wouldn't be able to post this while listening to online radio :/

No luck and no replies/ideas from anyone else. Like yours, mine works fine on iphone and ipad

Mine is doing the exact same thing. Spent hours on the phone with apple and it's still not resolved.

A colleague at work suggested blowing away the .../Library/Preferences/
com.apple.imessage.bag.plist com.apple.imessage.plist.lockfile
com.apple.imessage.bag.plist.orig
com.apple.imessage.plist

but that didn't work. I really want to do sms forwarding from this machine and this is a pretty major barrier...
