Does anyone know if it's possible to run the AppleTV (gen1) headless.. ie: without video attached. For me, the status light turns amber and stays solid a minute or so after booting the device.

If I plug the HDMI cable back in and restart.. it comes up fine.

Is there an SSH command I could issue to make it kickstart the GUI without having any video attached? I don't have it jailbroken right now (it's currently on factory v3.0.2) but it would be no problem if that's what it takes....

Thanks in advance!

Thats kind of ghetto.. but I like it. I could deal with having to lug a small TV into the room where the AppleTV will live every time we lose power to get it fired up...

Thanks a ton!

you don't actually need to connect a tv, just the connector, it probably just shorts two pins on the HDMI connection so if you found out what pins need shorted then you could just have a little jumper instead of the whole connector. May be more work than its worth though. LOL
