Okay, so I am new to the whole Mac thing and maybe I am not doing something right, but whenever I start up my iBook I have to change all the preferences because they went back to default. Is there a specific way that I should be doing this to save my preferences? Thanks.

Are you taking the battery out of the iBook? The iBook needs power to keep settings. This can be provided by leaving it plugged in or having a charged battery in. It does not have an internal battery for saving settings, so if you have it unpluged and pull the battery, you have about 20 seconds before your settings are lost.

i am not taking the battery out and i have it plugged into the wall. so far this has happened twice out of the four/five times i have restarted the computer.
