Exactly the same issue here. Tried 7 or 8 times last night, mixing between iPhone and iPad. No joy.

Resorted to an .ipsw mirror, still waiting on that for over 12 hours. Damn thing.

I have experienced the same problem. Tried twice.

I am betting that Apple's servers are getting slammed again with all of the non-US activations hitting at once. Both my son and I had problems with the upgrade on launch day here in the US.

You can try manuall downloading the file, and then upgrading from that

Go to this page and get the appropriate version.

In iTunes alt-click the upgrade button, and point it at the file you downloaded.

Re: Problems updating to iOS 5 time out connection

I had a friend who had the same problem and I fixed it by turning off the anti-virus protection then installing the update and that fixed it. Hope that helps!

Same here in the UK.

I tried to update my neice's 3gs tonight but it didnt work for me 3 times which wasted about 2.5 hours ffs :(

I would have thought by now that the 'rush' to download ios5 would have died down.

It should be available as a seperate file to install instead of having to download it everytime which takes approximately 40 minutes.

I will try again on Friday.

There is an option to download iOS and install later. It's noted in the pop-up notification stating a new version is available. You can cancel, download, or download and update.
