In XP, I have my 24" Dell set as my primary and only display (I leave the MBP closed). The problem I'm having is that I can't get the display to use its native 1920x1200 resolution. Instead, it gives me a 1600x1200 window centered on the screen (there is blank space on the left and right to it on the monitor). The windows desktop itself is 1920x1200, but it is contained within a 1600x1200 window, so it is cut off.

I've tried everything I can think of in the settings, but it still doesn't work properly. The MBP uses a 8600GT and the latest version of Boot Camp.

Thanks.

I have the same setup and it just seems to work, but I also downloaded the 2408FPW inf file from Dell's site, so Windows XP knows the capabilities of my monitor, which might have helped.

I installed some drivers from the laptopvideo2go site and it fixed the issue, BUT when I rebooted it reverted back.

Any ideas?

I can only guess that Windows is using default monitor drivers that only support "standard" sizes (800x600 / 1024x768 / 1280x1024 / 1600x1200). However, DVI should usually allow the computer and monitor to query each other and determine what resolutions are available.

The inf file for this monitor can be found here.
