I've recently switched from a PC tower with twin DVI outs to a MacBook 2.16. I'd hoped to use my Toshiba 37WLT66 to watch downloaded AVI files like I did on my PC set-up but although I can get a reasonable looking desktop image on the Toshiba when I fire up file using VLC the contrast and gamma controls don't allow me to calibrate to a range that is acceptable for viewing. Also the default underscan and overscan setting are either too small or too large respectively.

On my PC set-up the Nvidia drivers allowed me to calibrate the scan size by dragging the corners and also to adjust the contrast and gamma for the video-overlay independently of the desktop settings. is there anyway of doing this on my MacBook? I'm connecting to the Toshiba via MiniDVI to DVI to HDMI

Thanks in advance

Have you looked into the System Preferences in the Display section to see what resolution it thought the TV was?

It's got the resolution correct - it's just that the underscan and overscan options either over or under fill the screen - I want the raster to fill the visible display
