Problems with 10.8 password and memory

I just got MacMini last week, and since the beginning, when i first open if, i had problem so set my password, its for my studio, so the last thing i need is passwords (coz of the amount of plugins i need to install)... till now i never had any problems with my old mac's to set 'enter' as my password, but now with 10.8 i couldn't do this, i had to give him something else first so i can finish the startup process... then i manage to change it in the preferences as i like.
but now im having problems with some programs (like onyx, tinkertool, terminal...) that dont except my password, im getting massage that its invalid and i cant open the program.

Is there any way to fix this ?

Also, i've noticed that the new osx 10.8 eating sooo much memory, i've got 16GB inside the MacMini and when i make fresh start, its already using more then 2GB just for the system and whatever... while in my old mac with 10.6 using around 600-700MB...? i saw that under 10.8 Activity Monitor that im having 'kernel task' that using 1.4GB on startup and the wired memory is 1.7GB (can go up to 2.5GB when using some apps), while under 10.6 the 'kernel task' takes around 100-120MB and the wired is around 600-700MB ??

I know that part of the wired memory going for the GPU, and the new ones (intel hd4000) using more memory (768MB), but still this 'kernel task' taking to much memory... if this is the way 10.8 behave, i can't imagine how ppl with only 4GB (the standard configuration) using there macs...

I hope someone here can help me with these problems

Just so I understand, you want no password at all... correct? You should be able to go to your account in Users and Groups and go to New Password, then enter your existing PW and after that leave the new PW fields blank. Just tab through them and hit enter.

After doing that you should be able to login with just placing the cursor in the PW field and hitting enter. Same for app like Onyx that prompt for a PW.

Is this not what you are seeing?

What you are seeing here is normal and not a problem. The OS is designed to make maximum use of available memory and that is what you are seeing. So if you have a system with inly 4GB, not as much will be used as a system like yours with 16GB. The OS is taking advantage of the fact you have this extra memory to preload things to speed up the machine. Your system is just fine.

Im still having problems with my password, the way you describe is exactly what i did, its working when im installing apps, plugs and so... but when im trying to open Onyx im getting this massage:
"The name or password you entered is incorrect. Try entering yours information again. For security reasons, OnyX only works if you set an administrator password." - i never had this problem before on my MBP with OSX 10.6.7 , or earlier systems.
Also i can't use terminal, coz the program dont accepting my enter\no password.

About the memory issue, im glad to know this is how the new osx (10.8) using the memory ,but still its weird that the new system using 2-3GB for background tasks... i would like to enjoy the extra memory for logic and so...

PS - is there a way to see what the 'kernel task' using the memory for ?

So everything else is working okay with no password? It sounds like a bug with Onyx requiring something in the PW field. You might try contacting the developer about it.

I know the memory management seems odd, and there are frequent posts here about it... and it is operating as designed. Kernal task can be thought of as the traffic cop that handles memory and other tasks in the system, so all those items you see in the "All Processes" list in Activity Monitor are being managed by kernal task.

As long as you are not seeing frequent and large pageouts in Activity Monitor, you don't need to be worried about not having enough memory.
