Problems with 2012 Mini and Dell over DP

Hello all,

I just got a new Dell u21715H for a great price, but have flickering and other odd glitches over DP. It works fine with HDMI, but doesn't output in 2560x1440 over it.

I've read of problems with this monitor over DP even on Windows, but I tried it at a friends on a PC and it seemed to work OK. I'm wondering if there's anything I can that might solve this. Driver from Dell maybe?

Also wondering in general about issues with monitors other than Apple's with the Macs in general. Are they usually problematic...anything to look for, etc...
