Problems With Airport on Snow Leopard

Hello Everyone!

I just bought my new MacBook Pro yesterday with Snow Leopard pre-installed and I cannot connect to the internet through Airport.

It seems that it does searching for internet connections, it finds the one I have at home, I'm giving the right password and it also appears to show me that I have full signal and that I'm connected but every time I'm trying to surf (using safari) it says that I'm not connected to the internet!! And still shows me that I'm using the internet connection at home and I have full signal!!!

Can someone please help with this one? It's really annoying buying something and not working properly (especially when you spend that much money)

My old MacBook Pro (2006 model) has Tiger OS and the airport works perfectly (this is the one I'm using now to write this one).

Welcome to the club. The Internet is full of reports about this Snow Leopard problem -- and it still hasn't been fixed. Apple's own Airport cards simply don't work well with Snow Leopard.

My workaround was to purchase a third party USB Wireless card and use that instead of my Mac Pro's Airport card. Since then my wireless problems disappeared. (The other workaround would have been not to use Mac OS X anymore, because Ubuntu Linux 9.10 and 64-Bit Windows Vista work perfectly well with the Airpord card.)

hidden options

Are you using an AirPort Extreme base station? If so, is it set up correctly? Is it one of the new 2-channel models? It turns out that there are hidden options for this model in the AirPort utility (v. 5.5) that can only be accessed by first pressing the option key, such as the selection of the wireless mode. From what you describe this may not be of any help, but it's good to know regardless. I wasted two days trying to get my two AirPort Extremes to talk to each other before learning of this out, with an inquiry to this forum. Now I have no problem connecting to the internet (through RoadRunner) with the AirPort card in my new 21.5" iMac running Snow Leopard. Good luck.

Having the same problems, but only randomly. Safari works most of the time, but sometimes it insists I am not connected, when I have full signal. I'm using the AT&T 2wire modem/built in router.

Any other suggestions?
