Last week I purchased an iPhone 13 Pro and set it up by doing the transfer from my iPhone 11 Pro. Ever since then, Apple Music rarely works when not connected to WiFi. I get a "Request Timed Out" message or if I search for a song using Siri it will pull up but it won't play the song. I have my settings set to use cellular data for Apple Music and this has been happening when I have full bars so it's not an AT&T data problem.

This NEVER happened with my old phone. Any fixes for this?

Thank you in advance!

I don't know that it's a new iPhone issue. The last two weeks I've been having the same issue on an older iPhone when not on wifi. It will play one song, then the next several will time out with the "Request Timed Out" popup. Then finally it may play another song. Or if I close the Music app and restart it, sometimes that gets a different song to play, until that song completes and then I have the same issue pop up again.

Me and my family are all experiencing the same issue with Apple Music after upgrading to iOS 15. I can play one song and then “Request timed out” over and over again. I haven’t found a fix for it. We have two iPhone XS and one XR on AT&T.

Sounds like it's more of an ios15 issue. I didn't have that installed on my previous phone. I'm surprised that a Google search on the issue isn't coming up with a fix.

I tried several things such as resetting network settings, turning off Apple Music under Cellular, turning On Airplane mode and turning it back off, logging out of my Apple account in Music and logging back in. All to no avail.

I then bit the bullet and plugged my iPhone into iTunes and did a complete restore/reinstall of latest build and set up the phone as if brand new (no restore of settings or apps). Guess what? Same result. As soon as I was off wi-fi, I immediately started getting "Request timed out" when trying to play music.

I guess at least it answers the question that it's not a setting or rogue app or anything else causing the issue.

My next step is to call Apple, but trying to find the time as I know it won't be a short call.

Just chiming in that I am also having this exact problem on an iPhone 13 Pro on iOS 15. Spotify works fine on cellular while Apple Music doesn’t unless I am on Wi-Fi. Also on iOS 15.01.

I’m having this issue only thing that clears it is restarting the phone. It’s annoying when you get in the car and it decides to do it.

My workaround for the moment is to download a playlist and then play it that way while out and about. That's annoying because of having to go in and delete songs later and having to remember to download them beforehand, etc. But at least I don't get the time out error because it's playing directly from the device, not streaming.
I built a smart playlist with a couple hundred songs so that at least it's big enough to keep from having to download songs every day before going out.

I’ve been having similar issues.

also, is anyone else’s Apple Music not remembering the last played song when you close the app? In the past if I closed out the app and reopened it, Apple Music would always remember what I had last played. Now though it opens blank and I have to re find what I had playing. Super annoying

I’m guessing this isn’t fixed in iOS 15.1 beta since it’s not explicitly listed in the notes for it? Curious if anyone who has issues has tried the betas.

I realized the last couple of days I haven't been having the timeouts playing songs that are not downloaded to my iPhone. I haven't updated the OS and don't know if I just have gotten lucky and if this will recur. Anyone else having any luck with this issue?
