Problems with cellular data since 10.0.2 update

I have an iPhone7+ which updated to 10.0.2 yesterday. Trying to use streaming apps to day and they will not work. My phone will only find 3G whereas my iPad which hasn't updated finds 4G - they are right next to each other. I could not download my emails either as the cellular data either isn't working or is so slow it appears not to be working. Has anyone else had the same type of issues? I have read a few comments online about the update but nothing about this.

consider ios 10.1 beta 1 which also has carrier 25.5

In an effort to sort this out I booked an appt with the Genius Bar yesterday and felt rather stupid after he reset my network settings and the problem resolved! Nothing to do with the update apparently!
