So a few days ago the mic on my iPhone headphones stopped working. I first noticed this when I answered a call using the headphones and the person I was talking to couldn't hear me until I unplugged the headphones. I thought no big deal, I'll get them replaced online.

However, before I did that I decide to test out the headphones on my brother's 2G iPod touch. Turns out the clicker works just fine in the music app to skip songs and to pause songs, and the mic also works just fine in the voice notes/fring apps.

So obviously this is a problem with my iPhone. I restored the iPhone but the headphones still wouldn't work.

I have an appointment with a "genius" in about 2 hours to get this checked out. This type of damage should warrant me getting a replacement phone, right? Has anyone ever had this problem? What do you think is causing it?

Don't worry, this is a hardware problem with the iPhone and it will be replaced if your warranty is still in effect.
