Problems with editing songs on ipod

When I synch, for example, 2 songs from library to ipod, instead of showing "syncing 1 of 2 songs, and then 2 of 2 songs" it shows something like "syinching 23 of 63 songs" ????? the info in itunes doesnt match with reality. And everytime I try to edit a song directly in the ipod (change info about album or artist), although it shows on in library the change has been made, when I look for it in the ipod, nothing has been changed......could it be a bug...is it a itunes issue or has something to do with the ios 5 update....is there a way to reinstall ios 5?
