I have decided to try Libre Office. Followed instructions and got the app installed. I then followed the instructions to install JAVA.
Java is installed. I know where are the files are. My $JAVA_HOME is set. I can not get Libre Office to see it. I spent the afternoon watching YouTube videos, searching google to no avail. Any one have a clue. I about ready to cry Uncle.

As has been mentioned, no need for Java unless using Base (aka their Access).

And if using Base, need to install JDK not JRE.

And ... as far as I know, LibO does NOT look at $JAVA_HOME, but you must configure it in Preferences if you want.

I need to run Base. I followed instalation instructions for JAVA I thought. I know I have JAVA installed and have JAVA_HOME SET. to be honest I do not know the diff between JDK and JRE. Since I moved to M1 my vers of FileMaker will not run and i can not afford subscription. I need a basic FileMaker like database.

JDK is here. "JDK" = "Java Development Kit" aka Java Standard Edition (Java SE), "JRE" = "Java Runtime Environment".

Has a Mac ARM version.
