Wondering if anyone has experienced a similar issue: when I open a livestream on the YouTube app, the playback works for a second then stutters and continuously buffers. I'm using the newest Apple TV 4K and a 1440p monitor.

The thing is, there is absolutely no problem with video playback, it's just an issue with livestreams on YouTube specifically (streams on Twitch are completely fine). So I'm confused if this is just a bug or something just on my end.

Recently on my Apple TV YouTube randomly stops with the spinning gear. Since my Apple TV has not changed and it doesn't happen with any other apps assume it is a YouTube problem. Speedtest results are in the 300-400 Mbps range.

Speed test results are pointless. Look at the stats for nerds in the Youtube app. That will tell you your real speed directly to the Youtube servers.

Not really. It is the first place to look to see if there is a network glitch. Will try the stats for nerds - good idea.
It’s only testing the network between you and the speed test data center. Stats for nerds is showing you your actual network speed between your network and the YouTube data center. It’s an actual real world stat compared to fake speed test results showing you a speed from a data center right down the road from you.

and if that is failing then you know that there is a local network problem somewhere (router, modem, switch, etc.) that has to be fixed. If it shows no problems then stats for nerds results become useful. It eliminates one possibility that could cause bad stats for nerds results.

It wasn't any problem with my network connection, but this issue I had seems to have been fixed in the latest ATV update (17.5.1).

Hi! Recently I could easily see 4K movies on YT. 2160 HDR, no problem. But yet it's no more possible. I use my ATV for Apple TV movies /series and Prime: both UHD no problem on streaming. But YT doesn't work any more. An I changed nothing...

My web connection is ok 400 Mbps. Stats for nerds are bad. This morning impossible to watch my 4K demos. Even on 1080p.

I made a hard reset, multiple reboot, deleted YT app, reinstall. It's now worst than friday...

I installed SpeedTest on my ATV: max speed 9 Mbps. That's not enough for 4K. Why is it so low? It wasn't...

Tx for any help.

Well... I tried something hardware. I connected my ATV direct on the modem/router of my cable network operator. It now works perfectly. Previously it was connected on my gigabyte switch...

I always wonder: why (when you changes nothing) what have worked very well doesn't work any more... ??
