For a couple of days now my i mac has taken some time to load pages , the radio sound keeps on going off.I have 3 different drives with different mac os.s on .I tried going in to one of my over drives, the start bar was hardly moving after a time it went to a blank screen, it tried again and ended up on the os drive i was on before. Then i saw a message saying it needs to be optimized for me to use it they asked me the stuff they ask you when you get a new MAC.The sound keeps on going off the radio on the PC is so slow.:(When i tried to send this message it went to a blank screen and said it was having trouble loading the page.:(Everthing is up to date on this os.I put the Ethernet cable in a different socket on the Router it is working at present hope it stays that way:)I have a Windows pc and had the same problem with the radio sound going of.I don,t know whether the Router is on the way out it was solid blue ,so might need some new ethernet cabals.

Some more information about your configuration would be helpful in diagnosis:
  • Which model iMac?
  • How much memory?
  • You mention different drives - what type drives? How are they connected (USB2 or 3)?
  • What is the internal drive on the iMac?
  • Which version of MacOS are you running?

Moderation Note

I removed an odd-looking Amazon URL from your original post in this thread. It was attached to the word "optimize", and appears to be some kind of affiliate link or other unwanted junk.

Based on this, I think there's a possibility you might have some kind of malware that's adding affiliate links when you write or paste things.

I've preserved the original URL, but I'd rather not show it. If someone with experience of how Amazon affiliiate links work can provide details, i.e. how to decipher the query portion after the '?' in the URL, then I'd appreciate a reply here, or PM me.

Meanwhile, I'm not sure what to suggest you use to scan for malware. Maybe something like Etrecheck or Malwarebytes. Others who have experience with malware scanners are also encouraged to reply.
