Hello,
I have problems with OCLP on Mac Pro 5.1, Sonoma and RX580.
I make my installation USB key with OCLP on my Macbook Pro, I choose Mac Pro 5.1, my USB key is OK.
If I make the USB key with Sonoma 14.5 and OCLP 1.5 on the Mac Pro the installation is impossible.
If I make the USB key with Sonoma 14.3 and OCLP 1.3 the installation works perfectly.
Installation completed, I make the EFI with OCLP 1.3 on the MacPro 5.1, when I restart with this EFI on the SSD I have a black screen, if I start with the EFI of the USB key everything works perfectly.
The solution I found is to copy the EFI of the USB key to the SSD and everything works perfectly, the patch for USB, AMD GPU etc .... works perfectly.
My questions:
Why the USB key with OCLP 1.5 and Sonoma 14.5 does not work on the MacPro 5.1?
Why the EFI created on the Mac Pro 5.1 with OCLP does not work, while the one created with the same parameters on the USB key works perfectly?

Strange, I was able to install Sonoma 14.5 on my Mac Pro 5,1 with Radeon RX 580. (OCLP 1.5 but without use of the migration assistant). However, for some apps (e.g. 3D) there are glitches. I went back to Monterey.

I Heard from a sales associate that Apple is not supporting Monterey in the near future. that means many apps will cease to operate.

I want to get an app that creates ANimated backgrounds for Final Cut Pro, but will not run on my current Monterey.

I used to have an upgrade option to go to Sonoma, but that has now changed recently to Sequoia.

Any one know of other issues with Sequoia and 5.1 Mac Pro doing an upgrade from Monterey to Sequoia, and OCLP
other than the 6800 cards have an issue. My 12.6 has an upgrade option i've had since Monterey day 1.
Should i do the upgrade to Sequoia 15, or get a 7.1 or get a PC. is Running Mac OS on a PC a good option or problematic. ?

Apple support the 3 current versions (so 13/14/15).
Some apps from the App Store will require the latest MacOS version.
Apps will NOT stop working, you will just not be able to update them.

You could still upgrade to Sonoma, download the installer from the App Store.

I would imagine Sequoia (if it even works) would be very buggy in a cMP.
Mac OS cannot be installed (easily) on a PC.

Upgrading to 13 - 15 also means loosing my 6800 card. among other unknown issues , gee.
And moving to a 7.1 is thought of by the Mac Community as a Mac Pro 5.1 betrayal. ?

A computer is a tool, a means to an end, nothing else. If for a job you need an improved version of the tool, why you betray something? 🤪
