I put a friend onto both smscFanControl and the iStats Pro widget.

He installed and launched both. He adjusted the fan speeds to with smscFanControl to 1500/2500/2000rpm (top to bottom fans) as suggested on another thread here.

Then something odd happened. The iStats Pro would not display the fan speeds (despite setting it up correctly) and the fans began to go really fast (I could hear them over the phone).

The fans are continuing to rev at high speeds despite:

1. Pulling the smscFanControl slider bars back to minimum
2. Uninstalling smscFanControl
3. Each time he turned the Mac off, then started it (didn't use restart function which keeps the smscFanControl settings)
4. Zapping the PRAM

The fans are running really fast and the speeds don't show in the iStats Pro widget.

Any thoughts on what the problem is and what to do?

Thanks in advance for your help.
