Since last night they're have been some noticeable problems with this new OS. For the last week it has run splendidly...

1. After selecting to shut down the computer my G5 crashed for the very first time in 6 months.

2. Just 5 minutes ago the Dock froze. I can't hide it. I can't move it. It's just stuck there. I can still open apps with it but the magnification isn't responding nor are any other functions.

I'm gettin' a lil' nervous here. What to do? Any ideas?

Backup stuff and Clean Install...

Also, the dock thing is a bug - it will be fixed in 10.4.1... (or should be, anyway)

Thanks for the FYI on the Dock Bug. To fix it I ran Cocktail then restarted the machine. Everything seems fine now... :)

If the dock does that again, you can fix it without restarting the computer. Just open up Activity Monitor and click on the dock process, then hit quit process. The dock will quit, but it will automatically restart. AFAIK, the dock is responsible for running Dashboard, so you can do the same thing if dashboard hangs.
