Good morning everyone! Hope I've come to the right place. Looking to upgrade my 5,1 to a dual processor logic board. A local seller is selling his early 2009 (Mac 4,1) with a Dual processor board. My idea is to take this board and install it on my 5,1 and then upgrade the CPUs to the Intel Xeon X5690 3.46GHz. Currently the board has the original 2x 2.26GHz chips.

I've googled this looking for info and I can't find anything conclusive. As a newbie, I figured I ask this forum. Are the processor boards between 4,1 and 5,1 interchangeable?

Take a look at the forum stickies at the top. 4,1 and 5,1 processor boards are not swappable. And dual CPU 4,1 boards are considered by some to be less desirable because they need to use de-lidded CPUs.
