Processor Exchange

Hi all!

I have a Power Mac 9600 with a very slower processor, but I have a more faster processor from a Power Mac 8600.

My doubt is if I can exchange these processors without any dammage to them or to the both mother boards.

Those two Power Macs were basically the same machine (afaik), with the PM 9600 just being more expandable. The processor cards should be compatible.

No! I found on Google a document that says that the daughter car of PM 8600 is not compatible with the 7600, 9500, 9600...

I tested and comproved, the processor card of Power 8600 just works on Kansas architecture mother board!
