New monitors are gaining higher resolution all the time. For example, my monitor is a 38 inch ultrawide with 3840x1600 native resolution which is already lower than these new "5K x 2K" monitors. But it seems that some application developers are still stuck in the 1990’s . Examples:
Apple Feedback assistant: All text everywhere, especially when creating a report, is too small to read comfortably.
BBEdit: Toolbar and bottom status bar have tiny buttons which are difficult to see and can't be resized.
Pixelmator: Tool palettes contain very tiny text which is painful to read on modern high resolution monitors. The tiny icons and buttons in the palettes are difficult to see clearly.
It's not just Mac applications. Anyone who works with Windows servers is familiar with the tiny text in Microsoft's server admin applications such as Active Directory.
Why does this issue seem to be more prevalent in "professional" applications? Do the creators of these applications think that tiny, microscopic text and buttons make them look more "professional"? Or do they know it's an issue but they don't care?
