Professional InkJet Printer recommendations?

Looking to replace my 10 year old Epson InkJet printer.

Needs to print up to A3 paper.
Professional quality.

Any recommendations?

I purchased a Epson Stylus Photo R1800 Refurb from epson and I love it. Great quality prints, and it has C, M, Y, Photo black, matte black, red and green and the gloss optimizer. It has a great color range and can print 13x19 sheets or rolls that are up to 13" wide.

Im eying the Epson Stylus Photo R2400, anyone use this machine?

Ink costs any worse then others?

You don't say budget. Budget can have a large impact on the choice of printers although I have to say I personally would be looking at the high end canons

Epson has been good to me so far.
Ive read some of the reviews for canons and they all seem to be mixed. The Epson reviews have been pretty much all positive.

right I'm in the UK so not quite sure how much these would work out at.

I have a canon ix4000 (same as the ix5000 just slower) and its a lovely piece of kit, available at under £200. There are more photo orientated models which are more expensive - pixma pro 9000/9500 which cost £450 up, the quality of the prints on canon paper are stunning and I haven't seen a bad review yet.

the R2400's a great printer. had one, loved it. it's capable of great prints provided you use nice paper coupled with correct profiles.

i actually disagree - i have used epson exclusively for many years and my next printer will be the canon pro9000 or pro9500. i had an opportunity to work in an office with one for a few months and in my anecdotal opinion i think they offer better and more true color to offset prints, they tend to work better, print better quality on a wider variety of media, and overall seemed to be a lot less problematic than my epsons. i have always been a huge fan of the epson product, but i have definitely switched my opinion to canon.

having said all that, the only way to really know is to go try it out with some images you bring into a store and print on both.

right now B+H has the pro9000 on sale for $419 plus a $100 rebate.
