One thing I miss about my BB is the ability to create profiles that have different ringer volumes. For example, I had a profle for my drive to and from work with the ringer set to the loudest setting. Once I got home, I had another profile that set the ringer volume to normal. I know there is a new app, CalendarPro that can create profiles based on timed events in the calendar but it cannot change the ringer volume.

Any ideas??

I believe the app (via Cydia) Mirror Profile can do this, at least looking at it's screenshots it has a volume setting. It's a paid app, but it has a trial. Auto-Silent doesn't have this. And I did some searching and found 'MyProfiles' on Cydia, but cannot tell if it does what you want. I think the 1st one can.

Edit: actually this, that looks exactly like what you wanted. I just bought Auto-Silent last night. So far it's worked great for what I bought it for (shutting up at night), but I'm kind of bummed I didn't pitch for the extra and buy the MP app. If you try it, post a review. =)

Thank you! I am going to give Mirror Profile a try.

EDIT: This is exactly what I was looking for! The flexibility of this app is incredible. It allows me to adjust so many different settings. Check it out!

Absolutely!

I also use Notifier (by spektro), and between Notifier and Mirror Profile, it's a tweaker's dream combination....

I'll probably end up purchasing Mirror Profile. Thanks for suggesting it!

When you use Mirror Profile, does it change the ringer volume on your phone? Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but i cant seem to get this part working. Any ideas?

How are you setting it up?

I set up two different profiles (Home and Work) with different ringer volumes. Each is set to activate during a certain interval. For example, I have the Home profile set to turn on from 7pm to 6am. The Work profile is set to turn on from 6am to 7pm. The program seems to be changing the profiles correctly. I know this because I have the Work profile turning off Wifi and this action occurs. The profile name in the status bar also changes. What does not change is the ringer volume.

What do you think?

Hmm, I tested that too. Unless we're both messing something up (possible, at least on my end!), I don't think the feature is working properly.

I emailed the guy there a few times already with some other feedback and he (Eric) was very quick to respond.

This is the only thing I've not seen work right, yet. I also want to play more w/ the location-based stuff to get a feel for that. There are so many settings that it takes more than a once over to exhaust the possibilities.

AutoSilent is much simpler, but much less capable. (Bonus for the SBSettings plugin!) I'm going to keep playing with both. ATM, my suspicion is that I might use AutoSilent, specifically the toggle to force silence manually when wanted, but use MP to manage my daily stuff.

Wow I am rambling. No coffee, too!

Thanks for your reply. I too use Autosilent which works great. You are right in that this app has so many more options and features. I love the location based profiles. I had an app on my BB that also had this feature and I loved using it. Lets hope the developer can come up with something.

I've emailed the dev a couple of times on the issue of the volume not being changed when the profile changes.

No response so far.

Does AutoSilent have this problem?

Or....has anyone used Calendar Pro (Profiles)?

Both of those seem very similar.

Same here. I really like the app. It does everything well except change the volume which is the main feature I am looking for. AutoSilent also is not capable of changing volume. It does seem like version 3.0 gives it many of the same features as Mirror Profiles.

I have a question about Mirror Profile and My Profiles. Do either one of these programs allow you to turn off Edge automatically? When I dock my phone in my charger at night, I sometimes get really loud GSM buzz because my phone is docked right next to my clock/radio. I don't really want to move either device so it would be great if I could use one of these programs to automatically turn off Edge whenever my phone is attached to the charger. Is this possible?

Auto Silent, which is the one I use now (having both) just controls sounds and vibrations. Mirror Profiles can turn on Airplane mode, which I think would accomplish what you're wanting. It won't do it by detecting a charger, only by time schedules.

Thanks for that. I don't want to put my phone into Airplane mode at night because that would prevent my from getting any phone calls, emails, etc. All I really want to do is turn off Edge at night and it would be great if I could figure out a way to do it other than manually turning it off every time I dock my phone. It's easy enough to do it manually with SBSettings but I know that I'll forget to do it and the buzzing noise will wake me up like it did last night.

Well....fwiw, I've deleted Mirror Profiles long ago, and consider the price for this app wasted $. There haven't been any updates since I purchased, and the dev hasn't responded to anyone's requests that I know of.....

The last correspondence that I have is that the dev acknowledged there was a problem with Mirror Profiles and it could no longer change the main ringer volume as expected. That was 5 weeks ago.

YMMV.

Thanks for the info, m3coolpix. I was considering trying that app but it seems like the developer has abandoned the project. You would think that Apple would build a profiles app into the OS but I guess we shouldn't be surprised considering all of the other things that are lacking.

Yeah...I'm kind of in the same mindset.

I only j/b for:

1-Winterboard/Lockinfo/Fontswap (theming apps)
2-iBlacklist
3-Firewall IP
4-Notifier
5-Backgrounder

If Apple would get 1, 4, 5 into the native iPhone OS (much like Mac OS X, with 2 & 3 being available 3rd party software), I wouldn't jailbreak.

Fingers crossed for the next gen iPhone with v4.x that it's there.....but not expecting it....or hopefully it will still be jailbreakable.
