Program ive seen before

i saw a post on here a little while ago about someone wanted to network there computers or something from a mac to pc. he said he wanted to be able to see his pc on his mac or vice versa and someone mentioned a program one would use, i think it might have been a microsoft program. not sure any help would be great thanx !
