iPhone SSH client. This also requires ANSI terminal emulation or some other terminal emulation. I'm sure others have started on this, but this would save me some occasions that require a laptop if i could take a look at some servers from my phone.

Screen real estate would be rough w/ the soft keyboard, but it would be better than nothing.

Sign me up for this one! I would even take Telnet, since I can use it inside my VPN.

Most people don't want to jailbreak their phone. It would have to be an official solution rather than something requires a hack I would imagine.

I think this OP is requesting some sort of "fresh idea" that hasn't been done on either a jairbroken phone or a blessed iPhone(tm) App Store application... Sorry I can't think of one myself...

Either way... I still have my NSURLConnection problem that I'm stuck on...

it would be impossible to do that as an official app for the app store, two reasons, i don't have $99 for the membership and two app would never let you make a terminal and pass it on to the customers

AGAIN ANYMORE IDEAS FOR AN APP

Ares P2P for mac

that's about the only program that I couldn't find a mac version for.

Another thing, if possible is a Safari type Activity Window for Firefox

Well you won't know unless you try.

No need to use caps. I'm perfectly capable of reading properly written English. But I appreciate the thought :).

As for other application ideas, hmm, what about a graphing utility? That would be quite handy for a few purposes.

You know that apple would let a terminal go thru in the app store, i will try a graphing utility, but i am still taking ideas

You don't have to make a terminal to make a terminal emulator.

There are TN5250 emulators on the app store as we speak.

but this a terminal, still it isn't anything like mobileterminal, which proves my theory if put a mobile terminal to be reviewed by apple they are going to let it thru

It doesn't prove anything. All it states is that no one has released an exact Terminal clone yet. Your just trying to hold up your opinion that Apple won't allow it because you don't want to try it.

i would make it, but two things hold me back from doing so, i only make jailbroken apps because i don't want to spend the $99 and mobile Terminal does a great job of that better than i could

STILL LOOKING FOR IDEAS

Make a saturated water, steam, and superheat tables program for the iPhone. Have the pressure, temp, enthalpy, entropy, etc. Have it so that you can calculate quality, interpolate between temps/pressures, and other cool things.

Just an idea. Could be used for mechanical and other engineers that work with thermo.

Sure, but an SSH client doesn't need to be a full terminal, just an emulator that is driven by a foreign system. I'm sure it would be allowed... but anyway, you don't seem interested in this.

For a desktop app... in a few days I would go for a widget. I personally would want something that lets me pull from web comic archives... like I spent time writing scripts to pull down a comic archive to read locally this weekend. It would be cool to just have something that grabs the JPG/GIF/PNG, whatever and displays it, and you can go through the days with a forward back and see the comics. Maybe it could be based on an RSS feed so it would know where to get the comics, whatever.

Otherwise I haven't been at want for much in terms of apps lately. The best things are ones you'd never think of, i.e. delicious library. Maybe a security system? Take a photo every N seconds. Take a difference in the image, and allow thresholds. If a threshold is violated, save the image and flag it, send an email with it attached, etc. Since all shipping portables and imacs have a camera, it would be applicable to a wide audience.

How about, for the iPhone, something that would sit up by the battery level indicator, and tell you CPU usage. It would give you an idea if an application is locked, or just churning away for a minute. Either something that would change colors based on CPU utilization, or numeric. A bar graph moving may be too small to see, and if made horizontal, may take up too much space.

Something GUI to make SSH tunnels. Would bring them back up when you wake the phone.

Maybe something for those who want some sort of tracking on their phone. I used to have my iPhone grab the IP of the wifi connection it was connected to, then scp that information to my box at home. Kinda a lojack for your iPhone.

I am not sure if any or all of these are something that is already out there, but they are something that I would not mind seeing as an app.

2 simple but useful Utility Apps related to WiFi

I am placing a request for an App that will turn on/off WiFi access depending on set times of day. For example, when I am at home I want it on, otherwise off to prolong battery life. Since I am at work from 8am to 5pm M-F I would like to see up a calendar event of some sort to toggle this on or off automatically.

The other App request could be another feature of the above App or a separate one completely. I would like the iPhone to bypass the auto-locking Home Screen feature when I am connected to my home's WiFi. I'm not worried about someone finding and using my phone in my own home and am tired of always having to code in those 4 digits every time I go to use the phone. But I still want my phone to lock when I am away from home. Having to go into settings and change this manually is to much hassle.

This would be a big hit in the App Store!
