If you already know Cocoa a bit and how to program then this book is pretty decent and recently updated for 3.0.

Yep. I got "iPhone Development for Dummies.". Very well written. Another forum memeber recommended another book but that wasn't great for beginners like you and me so I returned it. This is the only book that appeals to beginners yet is very effective. It's on Amazon and Borders, among other places.
