Programs quitting unexpectedly after installing iLife 06

On my friend's Powerbook G4, after installing iLife 06, Safari, Mail, and System Update all quit unexpectedly. Anyone else experience this problem or have any solutions?

Was anything else changed at the same time at all, in system prefs for example?

Have you tried the usual thing of repairing permissions after the install?
