Trying to hook up my good old reliable Pegasus R6 Raid 50 to new Mini M1. NO go. dowloaded the Pegasus "updated" driver. The drive showed up for a couple minutes then went away. Never to be seen again. Thinking it may be time to move on? ?
1. Anyone know a way to try and make it work?
2. Is the OWC 4 bay (I need 16TB - 20 TB of usable) a good option?
thanks!!!!!

I have one with soft raid and it works very well. Maybe with 6 or 8TB disks in RAID 5 for that capacity?

Looking up subject then possibly appears need firmware update on the system. Looking up Pegasus r6 not mounting then firmware update required and needed to do manually.

Few threads on web from various platforms.

Not sure which R6 you have as a few.

Try attaching to old system, updating to current firmware then reattach.

Just wondering - After resolving your problem, Does the drive Eject properly, and not excessively?
Are you able to see it in Disk Utility via Recovery Mode? Or just after the OS is loaded?

I was wondering as I have the same Pegasus R6 as you, I just updated the firmware on mine recently to the latest release, using Mac OS 10.14.6 Mojave. I was at first given error messages and failures to update the ROM, but after trying a few times it went and updated, I was very pleased with Promise. I've hardly used this R6, Thinking of selling it but I will never recover what I paid for it, Mine is the 18TB model from 2012, Serves much better as a backup, or backup of backups.

Big Highfive to Promise Technology for supporting this for 11 years so far.

well, maybe an update to this thread...
My R6 has worked on my M1 Mini, MacBook Pros and Studio, but now with the latest Ventura updates, it seems to not mount. I've mounted it to my Mini to get the data off, but I'm thinking that my 2011 workhorse may be at EOL. Maybe keep it for backup use with the Mini or even my Trash Can, but I have a huge QNAP for that. The OWC TB4 Hub has been a great replacement with a 2TB NVMe and 18TB HD but I miss the big fast drive. Really just need to rearrange things a bit.
